Our favorite little green ‘droid may become even more “green” if a Chinese handset manufacturer has something to say about it (yes, the irony is certainly thick). Already familiar with making a low-cost solar-powered mobile phone, Chine manufacturer ZTE announced they will launch an Android handset in Q2 2010 and it “could be solar-powered”, said Sales Director Wu Sa.

Whether or not ZTE takes the solar-powered plunge depends on if they can make solar power and Google’s Android OS work well together. If so, it would be nice to have the option to let the sun handle the heavy-lifting if a wall socket is not close by.
