Motorola Sholes Tablet pictures

Thanks to Mobile Android China, we can get a preliminary look at some photos of the Motorola Sholes Tablet, expected to make its way into the marketplace sometime in the near future (and we use “near future” with a significant amount of vagueness). Here is a rundown of the specifications for the Sholes Tablet:

550 MHz OMAP TI 3430 processor
3.7-inch touch screen with 800 x 480 resolution
HDMI port
3.5 mm headset jack
UMTS/HSPA
8-megapixel camera with xenon flash

The Sholes Tablet is expected to have Android 2.0 at a minimum and possibly 2.1 by the time it officially launches. Please hurry, Motorola!

Verizon’s Droid not just a phone but a series?

While we all anxiously await the arrival of the Droid on Verizon, an interesting rumor has popped up about the Droid — instead of just being a new Android handset, the rumor mill suggests that it’s a whole line of Android phones for Verizon. The Motorola Sholes, a.k.a. the Droid, will be the first and may be followed quickly by the HTC Desire, a.k.a. the Droid Eris, on November 6th.

If this rumor is true, it certainly demonstrates commitment by Verizon to the Android platform, and it also means that we will have a couple new Android phones to choose from very soon. If rumor is confirmed as reality, we will let you know right here!

Verizon attacks iPhone with Droid ad campaign

Verizon is getting busy bludgeoning the iPhone with an ad campaign that highlights the capabilities and features of the Motorola Droid (Sholes) while telling the audience what the iPhone can’t do, calling Apple’s iPhone the “iDon’t”. Here is a rundown of the do’s and don’t’s:

Droid do’s:

Physical keyboard
Multitasking
5-megapixel camera
Takes pictures in the dark
Customizable
Runs widgets
User-replaceable battery

iPhone don’t’s:

No physical keyboard
No 5-megapixel camera
No pictures in the dark
No user customization
No widgets
No user-replaceable battery

It appears the new Droid coming from Verizon can DO a lot of things, and that AT&T’s iPhone CAN’T DO a lot of things. The Droid is looking very powerful indeed.

Motorola Android phone launching October 30th?

Take a really close look at the bottom right of the calendar above. See that? Yes, you see what you think you are seeing. This screenshot is allegedly a Verizon Wireless calendar that clearly shows “Motorola Sholes (Google)” slated for October 30th. This date is right around the corner and sets up well for the holidays. Verizon will finally have an Android-powered phone and Motorola will be diving into the ‘droid pool. We couldn’t be happier about this bit of rumor, and hopefully it will be confirmed as legit.

Android-powered Motorola Sholes passes FCC

As reported by our sister site, PhoneArena, the Motorola Sholes A855 has passed muster with the FCC and is likely on it’s way to Verizon. The Sholes should support EVDO Rev A and include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. It’s rumored that the Sholes will undergo a name change to the Motorola Tao and should show up sometime in October. ‘Tis the season to get excited about more and more news of imminent Android handset releases and we’ll continue to bring you news as it unfolds.

Motorola Android phone “Sholes” going to Verizon?

Thanks to motofan.ru, we have some handset renders that imply a Motorola Android-powered phone headed for Verizon. Code-named “Sholes”, the site alleges that it will arrive in the U.S. on Verizon’s network in October and have the following:

480 x 854 3.7-inch display
512MB storage, 256MB RAM
microSD/microSDHC support up to 16GB (8GB ships with phone!)
5-megapixel camera with autofocus
GPS
USB, Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi

It’s also possible that this device will be friendly to both CDMA and EVDO Rev A. From the rendering, this device looks to appeal to both the consumer and the business professional. We hope that the Sholes comes to fruition.
