Photo shoot of HTC Magic & Samsung I7500 shows comparisons

Tags: , , , ,

CNET Asia some how managed to get two of the highly anticipated Android devices to do a side by side photo shoot. Both the HTC Magic and Samsung I7500 posed for the camera to show off to the world their appeal. In one of the photos, the I7500 was running an early firmware version that made the AMOLED touch screen look dimmer than what it should be. So the image taken does not give an accurate representation of what the final product will look like. Nonetheless, we know that AMOLED screens are superior in terms of color levels and brightness. HTC’s Magic looks to be slimmer between the two in terms of dimension, but the I7500 will be packing a 5-megapixel auto-focusing camera with flash. It’s not to say that the Magic won’t be outdone with its 3.2 megapixel camera. Either way, these two hot Android devices are sure to make a splash when released.

French carrier to launch the i7500 as the Samsung Galaxy

Tags: , ,

French carrier Bouygues Telecom has decided to put a name to the face of Samsung’s first Android handset, the i7500. Perhaps thinking that it is easier to market a phone by name instead of model number, in France the handset shall now be known as the Samsung Galaxy. The carrier will be the first to offer the device which was originally expected to launch in June but now appears to be available starting in July. Pricing info has not yet been released.

The handset will feature a 3.2 inch capacitive HGVA (320×480) AMOLED display that will show off nicely the pictures taken with the phone’s 5MP camera that includes Auto Focus and an LED Flash. Internal memory is 8GB and the microSD slot holds up to 32GB in additional storage.

With Sammy’s initial Android device debuting early July in France, our recent story on the phone’s trip through the FCC noted that the specs hint at a T-Mobile release when the i7500 hits the U.S.

Not too long ago, we told you that Samsung had officially confirmed that the i7500 will be the Korean manufacturer’s first Android device. The handset has just made it through the nourishing hands of the FCC and after being probed, shocked, dropped and whatever fun things the test labs do, the Feds gave the thumbs up sign. The filing for the phone mentioned AWS 3G along with the 850 and 1900 MHz EDGE bands which gives us a sign that the i7500 could be T-Mobile bound with its 3.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen, Wi-Fi and a 5MP camera.
