It’s reported that Vodafone will enjoy a month-long exclusive period from May to June, as the lads at Pocket-lint were informed that Orange and the British T-Mo will join Voda in offering this quite sensational handset from June onwards. Even better, Three’s subscribers don’t have to feel left out from the party, as it’s officially announced that the carrier is to offer the HTC Sensation in the summer months, though an exact date is not available at the moment.

Yesterday was an exciting day for pretty much everyone who has a soft spot for monstrous phones and beautiful UIs, so if you want to relive the memories from this event, you may want to go this way for the announcement of the handset and also check our HTC Sensation Hands-on.

As of now, T-Mobile is set to be the only US carrier to offer this handset, which will be renamed the HTC Sensation 4G in the States. It’s confirmed this phone will hit the shelves in the US during the summer.

Well, Orange UK customers are in luck since it looks like the LG Pecan will be an affordable priced Android smartphone that packs some decent features; while still being relatively easy on the pockets.

Penned down as “coming soon” on their web site, the LG Pecan might sound like some kind of peanut sized handset, but in fact, it’s going to feature some decent stuff. Even though we’re in the dark regarding its pricing, it’s believed to be one affordable handset and will be offered as a pay-as-you-go model.

The LG Pecan features a 480 x 320 capacitive touchscreen, 3.15-megapixel camera, 140MB of internal storage, microSD card slot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, aGPS, and an FM radio. Furthermore, expected buyers can expect all of the features that come along with Android 2.2 Froyo.

Again, we’re seeing LG coming to the table with yet another handset that won’t break the bank – which is nice considering they’re targeting a wide segment of consumers.

It was only a few days ago when we were first introduced to the Samsung Galaxy Apollo through Samsung’s own official UK site without any carrier ties, but now it looks like Orange UK is going to open a spot on its lineup for it. In fact, this very own device was seen back last month during the Google I/O event where it was seen bearing the Samsung Galaxy I5801 name next to the Galaxy I5500. Naturally the official name that’s going to grace Orange UK will be the Samsung Galaxy Apollo I5801 and will become available very soon – for even as low as free on particular monthly calling plans. However, it should probably garner a price that should be lower than the Samsung Galaxy S. Even though Orange states that the handset is black, which it is in the rear, it is contrasted with the greyish looking color used for the front portion of the handset. Some of the features of the Samsung Galaxy I5801 include a 3.2” touchscreen, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3-megapixel auto-focus camera, 1GB storage, and Android 2.1. Although it may have ties to the Greek sun god, Samsung may spread its light to other European mobile operators, however, that information has yet to be revealed.

Orange customers are probably surprised to see an update available for the HTC Tattoo when there’s talk about Android 2.1 Eclair and 2.2 Froyo rolling about just everywhere you turn. However, those sporting the HTC Tattoo are still probably bummed out with the knowledge that HTC officially came out to say that the handset would not be seeing an update for Android 2.1. So for those Orange customers filling up with a sense of hope with this announced update, there is little solace with it at the same time as it will erase any data stored on the handset – so that means you’ll have the duty of backing things up beforehand. Not only is the new update nothing related to Android 2.1, but the thought of it erasing all day easily puts a damper on the moods of most owners. Never say never though as we’ve seen hackers do the impossible on other handsets – so there’s always that distinct possibility of something happening down the road.
Expected to be a facsimile in every shape and form to the already available HTC Nexus One, the Bravo of course will have the Sense UI packed on. Now Orange has seemingly let out some detailed specs about the upcoming device, but it proves to be somewhat of a distracting ploy; possibly. For starters the photo in the leaked internal pdf shows the same image, with the watermarks included, that we first saw back in December – one would think they would use an official one by this time for this purpose. As far as the rest of the documentation shows, it says that the HTC Bravo will only have 320MB of memory and that the copyright date reading is 2008. With a release date scheduled for March, it would seem a bit baffling for Orange to use a watermarked image for its documentation – let’s just hope this legitimate information point towards the right direction for the handset.
The obvious thing known about this handset is its entry level aim – meaning that it packs Android 1.6, Wi-Fi, aGPS, 3G, 600 MHz processor, 192MB of RAM, 2-megapixel camera, microUSB port, microSD slot, and an 1150 mAh battery. All of this point to a price level which should be less than the already inexpensive HTC Tattoo. Now what’s really different about this handset is that it’s one of the rare Android phones to offer a portrait-style QWERTY keyboard and a resistive QVGA touchscreen – fortunately though it looks to be somewhat responsive. Orange will be releasing the Alcatel OT-980 within the next four to five months – which should also hopefully make an appearance at MWC.

T-Mobile will be launching the HTC Hero Android-powered handset (G1 Touch) in the UK next month. More Android handsets – from Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei – will follow. O2/Telefonica launched the Samsung Galaxy i7500 Android handset in Germany today. Orange is also going to offer the HTC Hero in the UK next month, and Vodafone is expected to have an Android offering in 2009 as well.

The common theme here is that everything is coming up roses Android. Another common theme is that all four of these European carriers are shifting emphasis from Windows Mobile devices and moving more toward the more cost-friendly and open Android OS. It’s a win-win for the carriers and Google’s Android, but not so much for Microsoft, who is bound to lose both revenue and market share in the coming months. For the Android fans out there – and you know who you are – this is all good news and the sooner we have more Android handsets, the better.
