He says that he was told that his friend is building one for the HTC Hero which should be released early in 2010. The Hero is HTC’s first Android device that runs the Sense UI, which also makes it the first Android phone that has a browser that supports flash. The model offers a 3.2 inch screen with resolution of 320 X 480 pixels, a 5MP camera, Wi-Fi and a 3.5mm audio jack. As far as CDMA versions are concerned, Sprint has already released its’ version of the Hero and there is talk that Verizon will offer a model that will not include the Sense UI. As we get more info on the AT&T variant, we will pass on the word to you.
Thanks, anonymous tipster!

Finally, after a long series of rumors and speculations, T-Mobile USA have officially announced their second Android-powered handset. Initially, it was referred to as the HTC Magic, as well as the T-Mobile G2, but at the beginning of the month, a leaked box art revealed its final name – the myTouch 3G, which is now officially confirmed with the announcement.

As a whole, the myTouch 3G is identical to the HTC Magic, which is offered by Vodafone in Europe, in both design and specifications. Of course, this version of the handset is designed to work on T-Mobile’s 3G network. In terms of specs, the phone packs a 3.2-inch HVGA touch-sensitive screen, 3.2-megapixel camera (although its FCC profile mentioned a 5MP sensor), microSD slot, GPS, Wi-Fi and the must-have features of Android 1.5.

Current T-Mobile customers will be able to submit their pre-orders, starting July 8, at a price of $199.99 with a two-year service agreement. Afterwards, the T-Mobile myTouch 3G will be available in early August.

The Magic has had an impressive launch, exceeding analysts’ expectations as it achieves this milestone in just a matter of three or four months, depending on when it actually hits the magic (no pun intended) 1 million number.

Macquarie Research analyst Lu Chia-lin said, “The progress is better than most analysts’ expectations as some thought it would take at least five months for HTC to sell 1 million HTC Magic phones.” This bodes well for Google’s Android OS and the future just looks brighter as T-Mobile is poised to launch the myTouch 3G, expected to hit the T-Mobile store shelves as soon as next week.

The myTouch 3G, like it’s G1 predecessor, is made by HTC and is very much the same as the HTC Magic (carried by Vodafone in the UK).

Unlike the G1, no physical keyboard will be found on the myTouch 3G, giving it a thinner, sleeker look. Will you jump on T-Mobile’s new Android phone or wait for one of the other 18 or so handsets that have been announced over the last several months?

T-Mobile USA recently announced that it would be launching its next Android powered handset in early summer. While many had expected the handset to be named the HTC Magic, the HTC Sapphire or the G2, leaked pictures of the box art tell us that it looks like the name of the handset will be myTouch 3G. The device will be available in three colors, white, black and merlot. With the box all printed up and ready to go, it shouldn’t be too long before we see myTouch 3G at T-Mobile stores. After all, “early summer” is almost upon us.

Try a cool $300 CAD – that’s the difference between a two or three year contract. On June 2, when these two new handsets are ready to roll out at Best Buy (and other fine retailers), you can allegedly have your Dream or Magic for as low as $149.99 CAD (!) with a whopping 3-year contract and minimum $45 voice and data plan. If you settle for 2 years, the price jumps up to $449.99, 1 year for $499.99, and no contract pricing is available for a mere $599.99 CAD.

If you’re willing to sell your soul (for the 3-year maximum), $149.99 is dirt cheap for getting your little green ‘droid groove going. We hope that the photographic evidence of Best Buy pricing is true, but don’t count on it completely until you are standing in the store and handing over your cash (or plastic). If you live in Canada, will you be venturing to Best Buy to pick up your Dream or Magic? If so, how much lighter will YOUR wallet or purse be?

One of the biggest detractors from the T-Mobile G1 was its missing support for Microsoft Exchange. Clearly many people in the corporate world eying the Android device had to look elsewhere. Recently CNET Asia managed to get their hands on an HTC Magic and saw Microsoft Exchange as an option. So a photo displaying the interface can clearly show the new offering. Users would not rely on third party applications to get their contacts, e-mails, and calendar synchronized. Then a Google representative informed CNET Asia that Android does not currently offer the support. Finally, an HTC representative cleared things up by saying that the Magic being sold in Asia is not a “Google experience.” It does not have the “with Google” logo on the back like the one found on the G1. So HTC was able to add specific software into Android like Microsoft Exchange, a custom dialer application, and additional widgets.

CNET Asia some how managed to get two of the highly anticipated Android devices to do a side by side photo shoot. Both the HTC Magic and Samsung I7500 posed for the camera to show off to the world their appeal. In one of the photos, the I7500 was running an early firmware version that made the AMOLED touch screen look dimmer than what it should be. So the image taken does not give an accurate representation of what the final product will look like. Nonetheless, we know that AMOLED screens are superior in terms of color levels and brightness. HTC’s Magic looks to be slimmer between the two in terms of dimension, but the I7500 will be packing a 5-megapixel auto-focusing camera with flash. It’s not to say that the Magic won’t be outdone with its 3.2 megapixel camera. Either way, these two hot Android devices are sure to make a splash when released.

It looks like the device will be made available in the colors of white, black or merlot.

While we have no launch date or pricing information, we have this photograph which, if true, should leave customers of the networker either walking on air, drooling all over themselves, babbling to friends and strangers on the street, or all three.

Vodafone continues to conquer Europe with the HTC Magic. The world’s second Android powered device has been introduced this week in Spain and Germany, and starting May 1st the phone will be available in the UK. Pricing for the Magic is as low as zero with a two year contract costing at least 35 British Pounds per month which is the minimum plan Vodafone offers with the model. With that deal, you would receive free mobile internet, 600 minutes of voice and unlimited text. If you pre-order before May 1st, Vodafone will lower the charge to 30 British Pounds per month. Vodafone is also throwing a 2GB microSD card in the box along with the unit. This is the domino effect that our leaders warned us about during the 1950’s Cold War. The only question though, is where will Vodafone take its Magic show next?
