Just the other day we reported to you about “Rachael”, a device that was aiming to become the first Android powered handset for Sony Ericsson. Wearing the Xperia brand, this handset was loaded with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor, an 8MP camera with AF, 3D graphic capabilities and 7.2Mbps HSDPA. Right alongside Rachael was Kiki, a unique looking unit that allowed the user to read the display from the front or the back of the device. Besides the new pix, we also can tell you that there is some video of the Sony Ericsson UI for the Android handset. Check it out at the source link. Seems like we can’t get enough pictures of this pair.

Armed with the new Sense UI and supporting Flash on the browser, the handset was indeed looking like a Hero to many cellphone fanatics. But the air was already thick with the talk that the nation’s fourth largest carrier would not be adding the device to its arsenal. T-Mobile USA’s CTO, Cole Brodman left no doubt about his company’s plans when he said today, “(T-Mobile USA) has no plans to bring the HTC Hero to market.” Note the lack of if’s, ands or buts.

Having seen the first images of what is said to be the G1 V2 for T-Mobile, a number of theories regarding the possible origins of the device are floating about. One of these has it the G1 V2 is actually a handset to be manufactured by Motorola. Crazy as it may seem, there is a piece of common sense here with the source indicating that the three touch-sensitive keys on the front side of the device indeed look like Motorola stuff.

However, a TmoToday user has come up with a completely different story, claiming the G1 V2 is “still” an HTC phone and also going on the manufacturer wants to redesign the appearance of its Android G1, since quite a few users don´t like the original device. Moreover, writers of the blog believe the G1 V2 is codenamed Bigfoot.

And here is where it gets even more complicated. Mobile-Reviews has posted images of two rumored Samsung handsets, said to run Android 2.0, the Spica and the BigFoot. What’s interesting indeed is that the image showing the BigFoot reveals a device similar to the G1 V2, showed by BGR. But does this mean the BigFoot will be manufacturerd by Samsung?

So, what do you think – is it likely the G1 V2 turns out to be a Motorola phone or it´s an HTC device? Could it actually be made by Samsung or these images are just a mock-up?

The guys at BGR seem to have gotten their hands on a leaked copy of T-Mobile’s road map for Wal Mart and as far as Android developments are concerned, there is a lot going on. The G1 v2 will apparently be named after a mythical creature that some claim to have seen in the wild-the “Bigfoot” or the “Morrison” (like in Jim Morrison). The latter name is the one that appears on the road map for the updated G1 model. Right away, you can see from the photos that the handset has taken it on the chin as the fugly looking appendage to the original version is now gone. The phone is expected to get the attention of Wal Mart shoppers in October for $148 with a two year contract.

The T-Mobile G2, also known as the Sapphire, is another Android based touchscreen model expected to be on the shelf at Wal Mart this July, selling at a price of $179 with a two year pact. The T-Mobile USA version of this phone features a 5MP camera, an upgrade from the 3.2MP shooter that comes with the overseas version of the device.

We are not complaining of too much work, as long as we get to write about Android. The latest news here comes from the Times, which informs that T-Mobile is to continue its devotion to Google’s open-source operating system. Following the Verizon Hub’s launch, an Android home phone solution by T-Mobile is said to be in the works, and since it would be incorporating an operating system, we assume that it should offer a better functionality than Verizon’s product. Anyway, there is more to the Google mania that has possessed the carrier. According to the source, a notebook-sized Android tablet phone is also on its way. What we know for now is that it will lack a hardware keyboard. Its giant touch-sensitive screen seems to measure at 7 inches, and its functionality should cover the basic things your computer does.
