HTC Click video shows some Donut

Tags: , ,

Thanks to the folks at tinhte.com, you can view numerous photos and some hands-on video of the HTC Click in action. Although the demonstration is mostly a run-through of current Android features, it is nice to see how the Click compares to other android handsets (like the current G1 and Magic). The video also reveals to us some specs information – the Click appears to have a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD slot, 1100 mAh battery, GSM support, 2.8″ screen, and Donut. The price-point on this phone (<$100) should appeal to the masses and the Click should do well during the coming holiday season.

picture-3China Mobile and Dopod will soon be serving up some Android deliciousness before the year is out, compliments of HTC and three of their Android handsets: the Click, Magic, and Hero. PC World got their hands on some pricing information and here is the rundown: Click priced around 3,400 yuan ($500), will be available around Q4 of 2009, and include a pair of changeable front covers; the Hero will be available as soon as late August for 5,600 yuan ($820), will support 3G (TD-SCDMA), and also be carried by China Unicom; no info is available yet on Magic pricing and availability. All in all, Android’s future in China is looking up.

HTC Click is spied, take Android to new levels?

Tags: , ,

picture-41The folks over at The Boy Genius Report (BGR) posted up a couple pictures of the as-yet-unreleased HTC Click, a much more modest Android handset that may be targeted to a younger, less affluent demographic. No specs are yet available and the phone has a vanilla look to it, but if it should come in at $100 or even free (after carrier subsidies), then it’s a great way to bring that little green ‘droid we know and love to the masses.

Pricing and performance is, of course, pure speculation at this point, but the HTC Click is expected to be an inexpensive entry-to-mid-level Android handset that may give Google a nice market share boost. When we get more information we will post it up pronto. In the meantime, what are you looking for in a low-priced Android phone? Is the Click the answer to reaching a broader demographic?
