There’s no kidding that accessories produced by first party manufacturers can sometimes be on the pricey side, but lucky for all of us, third parties are usual there to save us some cash. Logitech just released two new Bluetooth enabled keyboards that are meant to work with Android tablets, but one of them is specifically catered to work with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

First up is the $69.99 Bluetooth keyboard that’s meant to work with any Android 3.0 and above Honeycomb tablets. Powered by 4 triple-A batteries, this keyboard features a low profile design, compact keys, dedicated media buttons, and a complementary case that actually doubles as a stand for a tablet.

With the second Bluetooth keyboard, which is priced higher at $99.99, it’s specifically made to work with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. That’s because it’s able to keep the tablet firmly at an angled position to make typing very easy for yourself – and much like the other keyboard, this one also doubles as a protective aluminum case for the tablet.

Therefore, if you simply don’t want to buy those first party accessories from the manufacturers directly, then you might want to consider snatching any of Logitech’s offerings.

Needless to say, there’s nothing like cool tech that oozes out plenty of novel features to capture just about anyone’s attention from afar, but there’s one that’s particularly more captivating since it fits conveniently on your wrist.

Actually, an Italian company called Blue Sky is aiming to perk up the attention of smartphone users with their Android-based “I’m Watch.” As you can probably infer from its name, it’s a cool looking watch that offers some limited Android functionality – yet, it doesn’t seem or sound as gimmicky as others in the past. Naturally, some people are going to be interested in a little toy like this one, especially when it’s starting price point is at 249 euros ($350), but you’re not going to treat it like one if you happen to pick up higher models that pack luxuries such as jewels, diamonds, and other faces.

In terms of functionality, it features a 1.54” touchscreen that allows for some limited tasks like sending text messages, accessing your email, and viewing photos. Also, its built-in 3.5mm headset jack will allow you to connect headphones and jam out to some tunes. And with Bluetooth on board, it allows just about any smartphone, even the iPhone, to connect to it – so that you can inconspicuously screen phone calls.
But seeing that it’s powered by a Freescale IMX233 processor with 64GB of memory, in addition to the 4GB of flash storage for content, it’s not going to be replacing any dedicated gadget any time soon. Nonetheless, it’s one accessory that we’re sure some people will appreciate. So if you’re in interested in one, you can place a pre-order now, but don’t expect to arrive soon seeing that Blue Sky intends to ship them out starting in November.

Well, Samsung has something that might appeal to just about anyone using devices with capacitive touchscreens – the Galaxy Tab Conductive Pen. As its name implies, it’s tailored to be used with Samsung’s line of Galaxy Tab tablets, but it’ll actually work on just about any device sporting capacitive displays. In fact, the conductive tip of the stylus allows it mimic your finger and offers all of the conveniences you’d expect – like making selections, tapping, and swipe gestures. Better yet, the best thing about it is the fact that it’ll keep your device looking ever so clean.

If you simply tire of having to rely on your finger to interact with your touchscreen device, you can replace the experience with the Galaxy Tab Conductive Pen obviously. Priced at $19.99 for a single Conductive Pen, it sports an attractive design similar to what you find with any premium pen. So if that’s good enough for you, then you can pick one up through Samsung’s web site right now.

Even though the big box retailer is still selling the HTC Scribe Pen separately at $79.99, you get a discount by purchasing the package deal that includes it and the HTC Flyer – all for $499.99! Of course, those who picked up both items on launch day shelled out the full $499.99 cost of the Flyer, and an additional $79.99 for the HTC Scribe Pen. Indeed a nice gesture from Best Buy, it basically matches Sprint’s offering with the cellular connected HTC EVO View 4G.

Obviously, the $500 price tag associated now with the package is indeed something easy to tolerate and makes the purchase more than accepting versus before. New owners will indeed be filled with joy about all of this, but of course, those early adopters will always be paying the price for their desire to be the first.
You can get a keyboard dock turning your tablet into a full-fledged typing machine for $70, while the multimedia dock costs $35 and works as an HDMI pass-through, allowing you to connect the tablet to your HD TV. In order to do that however, you’ll need the HDMI adapter for the Tab 10.1 sold for $40. Finally, you can extend the functionality of the 10-inch slate by pairing it with a USB adapter priced at $20, so you can use the Galaxy Tab 10.1 as a host device for connecting USB-enabled keyobards, mice and other accessories.
That precious Samsung-made tablet might require some additional protection and that’s where the Book Cover Case for $60 comes handy. Its versatile design also allows you to place the tablet upright or lay it down to use the keyboard. Finally, a simple Protective Leather Pouch for $30 encases the tablet in soft leather. Check out the accessories at the link to the Samsung Store below.

With that in mind, Best Buy’s web site has the Micro USB Desktop Docking Station listed on the their site for the price of $49.99, which can aesthetically improve the look of the handset while it’s charging peacefully. As its name implies, it’s basically your ordinary pedestal charging station that will actively juice the handset when it’s connected to a computer – and as you can see, it positions the handset in a landscape orientation. Besides making the HTC EVO 3D cool looking while charging, it doesn’t really offer any additional functionality.

Granted that we’re treated with a price point for this useful accessory, it’s stamped with the “coming soon” tagline – albeit, we’d expect to see this one available come launch day.

The Multi-Link Bluetooth Mini Keyboard from IOGEAR allows you to connect to up to 6 devices at once, including your smartphone, tablet, PC, Mac, connected television, or Bluetooth-enabled game console.

Once you’ve connected to literally everything you could type on, you can then easily toggle between connections, allowing you to quickly switch from your computer in order to quickly write a lengthy text message. The keyboard includes the standard media shortcuts, but they unfortunately only work with Microsoft Windows Media Center.

The keyboard is highly portable, so it would make a great travel companion for your iPad when you’re away from home. And the included pouch should keep it relatively protected. IOGEAR’s Quiet Key Touch design will reportedly reduce typing noise to a “barely audible tap,” so you won’t disturb your travel companions.

The IOGEAR Multi-Link Bluetooth Mini Keyboard is available now. The press release lists the MSRP as US$99.95, but IOGEAR’s website says $79.95.

In the U.S. alone, a person has a heart attack every 34 seconds. And, heart disease costs the U.S. $316.4 billion every year. So a small telehealth startup, SHL, is seeking to improve those statistics with the Smartheart device and app.

The Smartheart device, which is estimated to cost US$499, hooks around the user’s chest, much like a heart rate monitor. The device then records a hospital-grade electrocardiogram (ECG). Smartheart connects to your iPhone, BlackBerry, or Android device via Bluetooth, allowing you to view your ECG in detail, and email it to your physician.

While there is no substitute for an in-hospital ECG, Smartheart could be a great resource for people with cardiovascular diseases. Rather than having to go to the hospital and endure a tedious ECG, they can record them from home, and send them to their physicians. And if the physician finds something irregular, then the user can go to the hospital.

In addition to saving time, Smartheart could also save people a lot of money. While the $499 price tag sounds expensive, it’s still better than frequent visits to the doctor. And, in time, healthcare plans might cover at least part of the device’s cost.

Our only concern is that people might rely too much on this homebrew solution. We don’t know how effective it really is by comparison, but we think it’s safe to assume that people with serious conditions should continue their traditional ECGs.
