Kentucky based regional carrier Bluegrass Celullar is adding another phone to its Android lineup, the Motorola Milestone X. Similar to the DROID X, the Milestone X quickly becomes the carrier’s flagship device with a 4.3 inch screen, 1GHz processor and an 8MP camera that captures video in 720p.
The Motorola Milestone X will come with Andoid 2.1 out of the box, and there is no word on whether or not it will be upgradable to the magic Android 2.2 build that will permit users to install Adobe Flash Player 10.1. The carrier’s web site says that the device is “Coming Soon” so there is no information on launch date or price.
Thanks, Nathan!

Coming soon to Bluegrass Cellular, the Motorola Milestone X
The HTC Thunderbolt is widely anticipated by Verizon customers. Not only is it the carrier’s first 4G enabled handset, the phone also will feature mobile hotspots which will allow you to have up to 8 devices connected together over the carrier’s 4G network. Another exciting feature is the video calls over Skype. Both of these require the Thunderbolt to be hooked up to a 4G network. It all sounds good but there is a problem and the word is coming directly from Verizon.
The carrier is telling its reps that the mobile hotspot function will not be working at launch and to stay tuned for more information, which is the advice we would give you exactly. And there’s more. The Skype video chat will be installed at launch, but will not be functional. There will be a placeholder icon and customers should receive a notice as to when it will be working. Once that notice is received, you will be able to access the Skype app via a download from the Android Market.
Ok, but what about simultaneous voice and data over 3G. To quote Verizon’s release to its reps, “There is functionality in the Thunderbolt that allows simultaneous voice and data while on the VZW 3G network; however, we cannot promise the experience will be the one that is consistent with our brand. As a result, do not reference this functionality as a benefit during your conversations with customers.”
The cellphone market is intensively competitive which is why phones are getting launched perhaps a little earlier than they should be. Even within the same carrier, there is intense competition-Motorola DROID Bionic or HTC Thunderbolt-Verizon customers, which one would you choose?
Thanks Anonymous Tipster!

The HTC Thunderbolt will apparently be minus two major features at launch
Two is better than one (where did we hear that from?) and now it would seem we have two retailers pricing the heavily in-demand Motorola ATRIX 4G for $149.99. Yesterday, we told you that a couple of leaked screenshots from Amazon listed the handset for that price. Today a leaked screenshot, allegedly from Costco’s computer system, also showed a $149.99 price for the phone.
Coming out of CES as perhaps the most talked about handset, Motorola has done its part to fuel the fire by posting some promotional videos showing the phone and the docks that are available for it. Besides the dual-core processor, the phone has 1GB of RAM and a 4 inch qHD display. The Motorola ATRIX 4G doesn’t say “High-end model”-it screams it.
With two retailers allegedly selling the Motorola ATRIX 4G for $149, the big question now is what price will AT&T sell the device for? Usually, stores like Costco and Amazon sell handsets at a discount to the price at the carrier’s own retail stores. In that case, a price of $199.99-the gold standard for flagship devices-would seem to be in order. As for a launch date, it would appear that any date between February 13th and March 1st could be possible.

They have conquered the mobile game world, and in the process, have achieved a degree of stardom and notoriety. We’re talking, of course, about the Angry Birds and the Pigs. A new game, developed by Rovio, will be available for Android phones starting in April. The game, called Angry Birds Rio, will be based a little on a new animated feature-length movie being created by Rovio and 20th Century Fox. Click on the video below to see what the new Angry Birds Rio game will look like.
For those who can’t wait until March, the Valentine’s Day version of the game will be released soon. As we reported, the game is scheduled to be launched on February 14th although it is not known if both the Android and iPhone version of the game will be released at the same time.

Earlier in the week we reported that Virgin Mobile was about to get the LG Optimus V, which is their version one the LG Optimus One. Even though the device isn’t expected to be sold on-line Virgin Mobile until February 1st, it appears that some retail stores have already begin selling it for the low non-contract price of $150. Features of the LG Optimus V include Android 2.2 Froyo, 600MHz processor, 3.2″ HVGA display (320×480 resolution), 3MP camera, 2GB of internal storage and a microSDHC memory card slot. It run’s on the carrier’s 3G network, but also supports Wi-Fi connections.
One of the phone’s users has posted a few videos of the LG Optimus V, including an unboxing, hardware, and Quadrant benchmark, which only got a score of 492.But for $150 without a contract, the owner seems pretty happy with his purchase. Be sure to check out the videos below and let us know if you’ll be buying one.
Now that everyone under the sun managed to get a small sampling of Google’s highly anticipated next version of Android, it seems that they company is throwing a special event next week to go in-depth at some of the new features.
For something that’s positioned to be a true tablet OS, it only makes sense to find the Mountain View based company to officially show off all the ample aspects of Honeycomb. Interestingly enough, invitations were sent out to various web sites for a special event that’s going to be held on February 2nd where they will be providing some ecosystem news and demos about Honeycomb. If you haven’t checked out our preview on Android 3.0, you might want to look it over to see the major updates that’s going to come along with the upcoming version of Android.
And you never know, maybe we might learn something new with the platform that we haven’t seen before – or maybe they might unveil some kind of new hardware? In any event, the date will be here sooner than you think!

Two weeks ago we recieved an invitation to an event that is to be held by Sprint on February 7, stating that it will be an industry-first, and will have illusionist David Blaine on hand. Since the announcement, there has been some rumors of what the device will be, but today we got word from an inside source saying that it will be for a glasses-free 3D phone. Other features of the Android 2.2 Froyo device will be 4G WiMax support, 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, full-1080p video recording, front facing camera for video chat, rear 8MP autofocus camera with flash.
The overall styling of the phone is to be similar to the LG Revolution, though the source did not say who the manufacture was of this Sprint glasses-free 3D phone. So if this turns out to be true, would you be interested in a glasses-free 3D phone?
For us at PhoneArena, it would need to have some good content to make use of the 3D feature (user interface, games, and movie playback). We will be at the Sprint event on Feb 7th, so be sure to check back for more info!

When one sees all of the things that the Motorola ATRIX 4G can do, it’s no wonder that the device has been one of the most talked about smartphones since the CES in Las Vegas. We all know about the fantastic features and specs, but just in case you forgot, simply watch this video over and over again.
As we reported, speculation is growing that despite the flagship, high-end specs that the device offers, Amazon plans on selling the phone on contract for just $149.99 based on a leaked screen shot we showed you. And if that doesn’t sound amazing enough, there are rumors circulating that AT&T will fight back with a contract price of just $100 for the ATRIX 4G. So perhaps if the video doesn’t snag you, the price will.

With Samsung slated to unleash their next generation Galaxy S devices, it’s only fitting to see the current family of devices receiving the dubious honor of getting their prices dropped. Already, we’ve seen T-Mobile place the Samsung Vibrant to the easy to pay price of free online through their web site, but now it appears that its AT&T counterpart is seeing a similar thing.
Wirefly is now offering AT&T’s Samsung Captivate for the no hassle price of free with a 2-year contract. However, this attractive special price is only offered to new customers signing, but existing customers with qualified upgrades can still purchase it for a mere $29.99 – which isn’t too bad at all. Previously, Wirefly had the Android powered smartphone at $49.99, but this latest price drop will be especially gratifying for all those interested in it.
Then again, knowing that newer devices are on the horizon, will this attractive offer be enough to lure you in?

Without any doubt, there is no arguing that you can’t beat free stuff, right? Well, you can always one-up the feeling that encompasses you when someone decides to actually give you money for getting something free.
And that’s exactly what Dell appears to be doing for new customers who sign on with a 2-year contract for the Motorola DROID X. Dell is actually giving these new customers a $25 gift card for simply getting the Motorola DROID X for free. Naturally, it’s still one eye catching handset out there on Verizon’s lineup, but the whole deal is especially gratifying knowing that you’re not required to dish out any money out of your pockets – while still getting back $25 from Dell.
However, it’s worth nothing that existing Verizon customers with qualified eligible upgrades will need to shell out $49.99 to purchase the handset with a 2-year contract. Still, it’s a win-win situation because you’re going to get the $25 gift card either way. All in all, you’d better think fast on your feet because this special deal doesn’t last forever and is set to expire by the end of the month.
