11OCOSMOS announces their Android powered Mobile Internet PhoneAlthough it may be unlikely to ever see a device like this reach our shores, it still does exemplify the wonders of what Android can really do. OCOSMOS, a South Korean handset manufacturer, has just announced their new OCS5 MIP (considered a Mobile Internet Phone or Multimedia Internet Phone) that’s scheduled for release in the first half of 2010. Although you find some of the standard amenities of most phones, you can only place phone calls through VoIP when connected to Wi-Fi. Aside from that one aspect, it also features a bright 3.7” AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 5-megapixel camera, DMB mobile TV, GPS, 1GHz processor, and the specific Omos interface. You can check out the video to get an inside preview of what’s expected with this device.

Getting closer to Flash for DROID and Nexus One?

Earlier this month, we showed you an official video from Adobe showing how Flash 10.1 will look on the Motorola DROID. Originally, DROID owners were told to expect an upgrade with Adobe Flash to be available in the first half of 2010. Now, Adobe has produced a video showing how Flash will look on the Nexus One and its 1GHz Snapdragon processor. With not one, but two high end Android phones just waiting for Adobe to flick the switch, don’t be surprised to see the time frame moved up. Before you know it, you’ll be watching all of those animated flash ads that you currently are missing.

09Sense UI on board in the latest HTC Magic ROMT-Mobile myTouch 3G owners were probably thinking a lot of things after the last update became available, but it didn’t bring along the likes of what is seen with the update for the HTC Magic. It’s been a long time coming, but HTC’s Sense UI finally comes along with the Magic’s latest ROM release. Version 3.05.401.3 provides that slick interface that’s plastering all the variants of the HTC Hero worldwide. Now don’t be too hasty in getting this bad boy installed because you may regret the consequences it may bring forth. Just make sure that you have a backup of all your data before installing it because the update will overwrite everything on the handset – you don’t want to spend the next few hours in the rebuilding process. Once you’ve completed all the steps, you can enjoy all the fancy looking visual looks that the Sense UI has to offer.

AT&T soon to gets its own Nexus One?

08AT&T soon to gets its own Nexus OneIf you remember, the idea behind the Nexus One was to change the way phones are distributed in the U.S. with the retailers and the carriers bypassed. Unfortunately, thus far the N-One hasn’t been able to totally accomplish this change because of the current radio set-up in the device, which limits 3G coverage to T-Mobile’s frequencies. Today, an FCC label was discovered on a new FCC filing for a phone with  FCC ID NM899110 while the N-One has an FCC ID of NM899100. That is only one digit off of the phone in the new filing which could lead a suspicious mind to think that the new filing is a variant of the Nexus One. And the suspicions could be fed by noting that the new filing covers a device that includes 3G coverage on WCDMA bands I, II and V. Those bands cover AT&T in the U.S. and Bell, Rogers and Telus in Canada. Now what would a suspicious mind think?

myTouch Slide gets snapped

A tipster for web site Droiddeveloper has sent them pictures of the upcoming myTouch Slide for T-Mobile. Actually, the device has a few names as it will also answer to the HTC Espresso, and myTouch2. Equipped with a landscape sliding QWERTY keyboard, the Android flavored phone features a display with a 320 x 480 resolution, a 3.5mm audio jack,  camera with LED flash, and an external microSD slot that works by pushing in to insert and pushing in to remove. Can someone say “Hot Swappable”? The ARM11 processor is in use here and you might have noticed the optical trackpad replacing a trackball. Pricing and launch date are unknown, but we would expect with these photos being leaked, it shouldn’t be too long before it is launched.

05Is your N-One having data problems todayBGR says that it is getting deluged by tipsters with the Nexus One who are telling them that there are apparently data issues with the phone today. Regardless of whose fault this is, the Google-T-Mobile connection is just not working right now, leaving unhappy users with a rather expensive paperweight for the moment. If you are a N-One owner, let us know what is happening with your data connection. Hopefully this is a minor issue that will be resolved quickly.

Motorola to become the leading Android provider in 2010?

04Motorola to become the leading Android provider in 2010When the first Android handsets were launched, the one thing they all had in common (besides running Android, of course!) was thay were all manufactured by HTC. The Taiwanese based firm had a big head start in marketshare, controlling 64.5% of the Android pie by the end of 2009. Meanwhile, Motorola had been looking for something new to replace the now obsolete RAZR model. The company announced that they would be shifting to Android for future handsets. For a while, there were no changes. Then, the Motorola Cliq was launched for T-Mobile, the DROID became Verizon’s flagship phone and grabbed 25% of the Android market all by itself, and the game was on. New Motorola models like the BackFlip are coming and we have seen pictures of the super spec’d Shadow that might turn out to be the Nexus Two. According to DigiTimes, the manufacturer expects to ship 30 new Android models in 2010, shipping 12.5-15.6 million units.

HTC, meanwhile, has been benefiting from the demand for Android, but also has been hurt by its Windows Mobile devices which seem to be dragging down the company. With Motorola grabbing the momentum and HTC being weighed down by non-Android phones, DigiTimes expects Motorola to take over the position as the top Android provider in 2010 with 34.7% of the market while HTC’s share drops by more than half to 31.9% For the Schaumburg based company, it is an amazing turnaround story.

Motorola Devour to use the same processor as Palm Pixi

It appears that the upcoming Motorola Devour A555 (formally known as the Calgary) may feature the same Qualcomm MSM7627 processor that is on the Palm Pixi and BlackBerry Curve 8530, instead of using the OMAP3430 that is on the Motorola DROID. The MSM7627 has two ARM cores that are combined into a single chip: one that is dedicated as a 600MHz CPU core and one that is a 400MHz modem processor. There is also a separate 320MHz application DPS for WVGA at 30fps encoding/decoding, and a 3D hardware graphics core at 200MHz that supports OpenGL 2.0. At this point we know the Motorola Devour will be the first Verizon smartphone to feature MotoBLUR, though it is still unclear if it will be running Android 1.6 or 2.1 by the time it’s released. It also comes equipped with a 3MP camera, side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3.1″ 480×320 display, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headset hack, and microSDHC memory card slot. The Motorola Devour is expected to be out Q1 and possibly cost less than the Motorola DROID.
