picture-2What if you could access Facebook or send a Tweet without unlocking your Android phone’s screen lock? Well, now you can if you own an HTC Android phone. TechCrunch, the developers of FlyScreen, are providing an Android version that is compatible with only HTC handsets running Android 1.5 at this time. Whether or not the app will be compatible with other handsets down the road remains to be seen, but for now, HTC handset owners can use FlyScreen and a collection of widgets to make their unlock screens far more useful. TechCrunch is giving 1,000 HTC Android handset owners the chance to try it first, so let us know if you are one of the chosen few!

Alleged screenshots of new Android Market

picture-1A couple of screenshots that seem to be the updated Android Market have appeared on cnet’s Android Atlas, and although there is no guarantee that it’s the finished product, we like what we see. Tabs appear along the top to view “Top paid”, “Top free”, and “Just in” for new arrivals. You may also notice a magnifying glass at the upper right of the screen for searching. It seems the changes are mainly aesthetic – placing buttons on the front for functions that previously required pressing the Menu button and drilling down. Hopefully we will see these changes soon. The Android Market is about to get better-looking. Do you like it as much as we do?
