Lay witness once again to the wonders of the open source community as the LiveAndroid team brings Android OS to your desktop.
To be very clear, this is NOT an official Android release, nor а Google-backed product. That said, if you consider yourself tech-savvy and fancy experimenting with a mobile OS on your desktop, or would just like to get your hands on anything Google in anticipation of Chrome OS, then you might want to take a look at what the LiveAndroid team is doing with Google source code.
The team is composed of enthusiastic members of the Android community, whose service is to let you try the OS by burning a disc image of it onto a CD-ROM, inserting it into your PC, and playing with it after rebooting your computer. LiveAndroid released Version 0.2 of its ISO image on July 6, 2009 and should support common x86 platforms. This isn’t a game-changer by any means, but it is a neat project that should once again highlight the value of the open source community.
